Celebrating Homeownership Month in June, Erin Oban, U.S. Department of Agriculture Undersecretary for Rural Development, recognized North Dakota’s top three lending partners for supporting rural homeownership so far in fiscal 2022. These three lenders have helped rural individuals and families to purchase homes through the USDA Rural Development Single Family Home Guaranteed Loan Program.
The agency presented awards to the following institutional leaders and their mortgage teams:
- First community credit union based in Jamestown.
- Gate City Bank based in Bismarck.
- Dakota Community Bank & Trust based in Bismarck.
“For a myriad of reasons, the dream of home ownership has become increasingly difficult for too many professionals, families and seniors living on fixed incomes,” Oban said. “Housing affordability and accessibility is a tremendous challenge in many North Dakota communities, but in partnership with USDA Rural Development, these lenders are leading the industry in helping our state’s most rural residents find places to call home. Working with lenders like First Community Credit Union, Gate City Bank, and Dakota Community Bank and Trust, USDA Rural Development strengthens communities, provides stability for families, and builds generational wealth by helping North Dakota residents become homeowners .”
